Reprogramming a patient's immune system to specifically target and eliminate cancer cells is how CAR-T cell therapy for lymphoma operates. The lymphatic system, which includes the spleen, bone marrow, and lymph nodes, is impacted by lymphoma, a form of blood cancer. CAR-T therapy involves removing and genetically modifying the patient's own T cells, which are an essential part of the immune system, to produce chimeric antigen receptors (CARs).
