Although many people may not be aware, Hurricane Dorian in September was the greatest hurricane to ever strike this archipelago. However, the storm left the majority of the 700 islands in the archipelago undamaged, leaving Grand Bahama and the Abacos in need of years of reconstruction. Travel spending contributes significantly to the rehabilitation of the northern islands. Because of the recent arrival and renovation of many independent geometry dash hotels that reflect their owners' pride, this is an exciting moment to visit the Bahamas.

Following Dorian, the group behind the family-owned Kamalame Cay gathered over $30,000 for the impacted areas, collecting supplies and food and providing jobs for the displaced. Additionally, owners David and Michael King-Hew continued to make upgrades despite the storm; in 2019, they inaugurated two additional villas and have ten more planned for later this year.

Compared to Nassau's bigger beach resorts, the 30-room Island House offers a more intimate setting with its Zen temple style, in-house wine label, and art-house cinema. Exclusive access to a neighboring private beach club is available to guests; but, if it becomes too busy, ask the staff to set up an overnight stay on their own island in the Exumas, Highbourne Cay.

The 24-key Caerula Mar, which debuted last month, was formerly a 1960s-era resort that was bought by HGTV Canada stars Bryan and Sarah Baeumler in 2016. It's the island's first new hotel in over 20 years, covering 10 acres of beachfront. The owners have already seen it breathe new life into this once-sleepy region with renovations to the infrastructure and the addition of new local enterprises like bone-fishing tours and conch shacks.

When considering an island getaway, "solar-powered safari camp" may not be the first thing that comes to mind. However, the Other Side, located on one of the nation's less-developed "out islands," isn't your typical beach hotel. With 30-foot Hinckley boat access, in-room massages, and outdoor baths, a stay here is the epitome of barefoot luxury. Three brand-new villas with floor to ceiling windows overlooking the sea will soon join the three tented suites and three hilltop cottages, or "shacks."
