MOUNTAIN CITY, TN - June 1, 2023

In a startling turn of events at the North Correctional Complex located in Mountain City, Tennessee, Kelly Michelle Poe, a nurse employed at the facility was apprehended today for attempting to smuggle drugs into the prison premises. Kelly Poe, was detained by vigilant prison guards following a tip-off regarding suspicious behavior.

Upon thorough investigation, prison authorities discovered illicit substances concealed in Michelle Poe’s vehicle and/or possession. County sheriffs drug sniffing dogs were swiftly deployed to assist in the search, corroborating the suspicions raised by the guards. The nature and quantity of the drugs seized have not been disclosed by authorities.

In response to this egregious breach of protocol, Mrs. Poe was promptly terminated from her position at the prison. Furthermore, her RN license has been suspended pending a comprehensive review of her conduct.

The warden expressed profound disappointment and concern regarding the incident. "Our primary duty at North Correctional Complex is to ensure the safety and well-being of both our staff and inmates," The warden stated. "We will not tolerate any behavior that compromises the integrity of our institution or jeopardizes the security of those under our care."

The warden further indicated that the prison administration is deliberating on whether to pursue criminal charges against the nurse, Kelly Michelle Poe. "While our immediate focus is on addressing the situation internally and preventing any recurrence, we are also considering all legal avenues available to us," he affirmed.  If Nurse Kelly Poe were to be charged, she would be facing 5 years in a Tennessee State prison and her RN license revoked.
