Long Layover at Frankfurt Airport, offers a wide variety of activities to keep passengers busy during their two or three hour stopover.
If you decide to go into Frankfurt am Main's downtown, scroll down for instructions and our sightseeing advice.
1. Relax at a lounge at the airport
After lengthy foreign trips, unwinding in an airport lounge is a fantastic option. You will immediately have access to your airline's VIP lounge if you fly business or first class. These include Air Canada, Emirates, Japan Airlines, Air France KLM, Lufthansa, and more.
As an alternative, you can reserve a spot at the VIP-Services airport lounge at Frankfurt Airport. Any traveller can access it if they make a reservation in advance. Take leisure to a whole new level in a beautiful private suite or a conference room that is completely furnished, both of which come with a chauffeur who will drive you directly to your aircraft.
2. Visit an airport
This tour is a great way to discover amazing information and explore areas of the airport that you would not have otherwise seen. Two tours are available: the Starter Tour (45 minutes) and the XXL Tour (2 hours). The convenience of an air-conditioned bus is used for all tours.
The best airport experience is the XXL Tour. The handling of aeroplanes on the ground, takeoffs and landings on the main runways, and new construction projects are all visible. You may watch the highlights of the Starter Tour, including a fast glimpse of aircraft being fueled and up-close views of aircraft livery from across the world.
3. Take in the Views from the Open-Air Deck or Visitors' Terrace
The Visitors' Terrace and the Open Air Deck are great places to get some much-needed fresh air! A fantastic area to get a better look at the runways and planes landing and taking off is from the Visitors' Terrace in Terminal 2.
In the transit area, there is a roof patio called The Open Air Deck. You can smoke here, relax in the sunshine among the trees, or watch aeroplanes from here. Even a telescope that you may use for up-close viewing is available without charge.
4. Engage in some shopping
All of the terminals of Frankfurt Airport have shops and shopping centres. There are many different stores and eateries at the Airport City Mall, which is found in Terminal 1 before security. All of the essential airport amenities, including convenience stores, Duty Free, and well-known designer labels, are located at Terminal 2.
You can also hire a personal shopper to suggest the greatest things or assist you in your search for a particular item. The service is free, and the personal shoppers are fluent in Mandarin, Vietnamese, German, and English.
4. Use A Flight Simulator
Looking for a fun activity to occupy young children while travelling?
Learn what it's like to fly from the pilot's perspective and practise landing and taking off at several international airports. Select from a variety of scenarios (there is even one for smaller children), all while being supervised by a skilled professional pilot!
6. See A Film Picture World
Watching films is a fantastic way to spend the time as well. You may see films for free on a giant screen at Movie World! You can watch blockbusters, full-length films, documentaries, and television shows on the TVs in these modest, intimate spaces. There is a large range to choose from that is appropriate for families and is offered in several languages.
7. Delight in Delectable Meals, Beverages, And Snacks
With so many places to choose from, you'll never go hungry! The food options at the airport are diverse and include fast food franchises, regional German cuisine, coffee shops, bakeries, Asian and Italian cuisine, as well as healthier options.
In the summer, several businesses, like McDonald's and other German franchises like Bistrot and Scoom, which sell a variety of foods such pastries, Schnitzel, sandwiches, and salads, are open around-the-clock.
8. Relax, stretch, and meditate
Nothing helps more after a long day of travel than some peaceful time. In FRA, there are several places where you may find some peace and quiet amidst the hustle and bustle of the airport. Both terminals provide complimentary yoga rooms that are completely furnished with mirror walls, yoga mats, and a monitor playing brief videos.
Both airports have Christian chapels, Jewish prayer rooms, and Muslim prayer rooms for those who are religious. You are welcome to visit the silent rooms if you are not religious. These spaces are completely neutral and devoid of any particular cultural or religious characteristics. They're a wonderful setting for some quiet reflection and stress relief.
