It is home to Cambridge University, the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) as well as Harvard University, ranked first and second worldwide according to the QS World Universities Rankings(r) in 2015/2016. Boston hosts five universities that are ranked in the top 400. The concentration of world-class institutions propels it to joint 13th position on the QS Best Student Cities index.

New York

In addition to The Big Apple' and 'The City that Never Sleeps'. New York City, ranked 20th on the Best Student Cities index, is often referred to as the 'Capital of the Earth'. There are few cities that create such a variety of associations in a single moment whether it's the towering high-rises that are landmarks of the city's financial power as well as the famous fashion and music scenes or the glitter and bright lights in Broadway as well as the famous Deli or delicious street food. There's an abundance of top colleges in New York, including Columbia University (ranked 22nd in the QS World University Rankings(r) 2015/16) and New York University (53rd) in addition to nine other institutions that rank among the top 800 universities around the globe. New York therefore places 5th in the category of 'university rankings' on The Best Student Cities index, just ahead of Boston which ranks sixth. New York achieves the best rating of all the top US cities for college students, in the desirable category, with a great (albeit expensive) quality of living.

The next on our list of top cities across the US for students is "The Windy City' (although it's not the only one.) An incredibly fast-paced, high-rise financial centre, Chicago is also a city known to relax and let loose. It was ranked as the 30th top student city worldwide for the past year Chicago continues to be renowned as the place that witnessed an explosion of blues , and jazz music in the 20th century that has earned it the reputation of being the northern United States' answer to New Orleans. Chicago has two of the most prestigious universities: that of the University of Chicago (ranked 10th in the world) as well as Northwestern University (32nd), as well as two additional universities in the top 500 universities in the world. The sun is almost throughout the year in our next top city for students in the US that ranks 42nd overall.
